Character education is the effort to teach basic values and moral reasoning to primary and secondary school students. These values, called the Six Pillars of Character, are trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring and citizenship. These core values transcend political, religious, class and ethnic divisions. Throughout the HPW curriculum we teach these basic values as part of personal health, family health, violence prevention, community and environmental health. These character traits are identified on the planning pages of each section of the program. |
